Hawker Tempest II (PR536) at Hendon - Click for Full Image

The Hawker Tempest II was one of the last piston engined fighters to serve with the RAF and used the most powerful production engine then available; the 2526hp British Centaurus. The Tempest II (PR536) at Hendon was rebuilt from parts recovered from India and required a 2 year programme for full restoration. This aircraft is known to have served with 5 Squadron of the RAF, based at Poona, India in 1946 and is displayed in those markings.
